Do you have any training needs? Do you, or any of your staff need the Basic/ Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate? Are you ready for the new HACCP legislation due to come into force in January 2006??

Don't panic! There are a range of short courses on offer in the local area - and you may even be entitled to some funding to help you achieve them. Some of the courses can even be taken by distance learning at home.

Margaret Bonnar is a Skills Training Advisor with South West Food and Drink working to support all small food businesses in the area. Margaret is particularly keen to help businesses prepare for the new HACCP legislation, and can organise a half-day workshop if there is sufficient interest.

Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene - CIEH

first level course on fundamental food hygiene knowledge for food handlers. 1 day course

Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene - CIEH Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene for those who need a broader understanding of food hygiene, for managers, supervisors and proprietors of small businesses. 3 day course

Advanced Food Hygiene - CIEH

This course is primarily to provide senior personnel with an in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of food hygiene and to enable them to exercise management controls for the production of safe food. 5 day course - some funding available

Setting up a Small Food Business - Basic toolkit for setting up your own business including business planning, marketing and legal requirements.  Includes the foundation food hygiene certificate and risk assessment training. 3 day course

Setting up a Bed and Breakfast Business - Basic toolkit for setting up your own Bed & Breakfast business including a foundation food hygiene course, financial and business planning. 5 day course

Successful Selling - aimed at farmers and producers who want to maximise their sales through various outlets, including farm shops, farmers markets and the local community. 1 day course

Cheese Making Introduction - aimed at anyone interested in the art of cheese making, it may be for someone who has a small holding of sheep, cows or goats, and maybe you are thinking of starting a new business and selling at Farmers Markets or other local suppliers. 1 day course.
